Sika Deer are actually members of the Elk family native to Japan. The Sika stag bugles like an Elk and makes wallows. They are rather small in stature. Originally the preferred habitat in Japan was large forests with clearings, but they have adjusted well to the cultivated man-made landscapes. Unlike North American Deer which shed their antlers and have several months without; Sikas start growing new antlers immediately after shedding the old. We have managed our Sika Deer very well over the years and now have one of the largest herds in the East. We only hunt our mature bucks with at least 4x4 antlers. Our mature Sika stags are $2000.
