Guided Red Stag Hunts in Pennsylvania
TIOGA Guided Red Stag Hunts
Tioga Ranch’s red stag hunts are priced according to how old the stag is at the time of killing– for example, if you shoot and kill a Bronze Class, it’s $6,000. Larger stags cost more, such that a Gold Class, for example, is $9,000. Hinds (females) are $2,000.
Red stag hunts include one night of lodging as well as meals. Plus, skinning and quartering is included in the quoted price. If you want a second night of lodging and meals, add $120. If you want butchering, vacuum sealing and labeling done, add $300. Note: a 25% deposit is required to reserve your hunt. You can schedule your hunting trip and make arrangements by calling Tioga Ranch at 570-835-5341; it’s a good idea to plan your trip months in advance.

Things to Know About Red Stag Hunts
Most deer are brown, but red stag deer are the rarer, red-coated exception, with a lineage stretching back millions of years to Europe and, eventually, Britain, where hunters relied on them for food, clothing, and tools.
Males typically carry six-point antlers, though some reach up to 15 points as a sign of dominance. They eat what most deer eat, shrubs, leaves, grasses, and mate during “the rut,” September through November, with births arriving late May into early June.
Today you’ll find red stag in Britain, Iran, Australia, Argentina, and the USA, including here at Tioga Ranch. At 69 to 98 inches long and 350 to 530 pounds, they’re a genuinely big animal, and their antlers make them look even bigger.
Red Stag Deer Hunts Are an Unforgettable Experience!
If you’ve hunted elk before, some of that experience carries over. Red stag have excellent eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell, making them tough to sneak up on, and they favor thicker bush, so higher ground or small openings in heavier timber work in your favor.
Season runs mid-August through November, with mid-September through mid-October as prime time. You won’t be hunting alone; our guides help you close the deal.
Planning a Red Stag Deer Hunting Trip
Timing matters most, the rut (Sept./Oct.) is prime season.
Think about your own pace and health: mountainous terrain or flatter ground, tent-and-backpack or a comfortable lodge stay.
A trustworthy guide who knows the terrain and game behavior matters too, and Tioga Boar Hunting’s guides are known for exactly that.
Sight your weapon at the ranch before the hunt starts, so you know it’s shooting true.
Pack broken-in boots with good support, binoculars, sunscreen, and bug spray, and dress in layers for swings in temperature.
When you spot a stag worth taking, tell your guide your comfortable shooting distance ahead of time and find a solid rest. And once you’re on the ground with your trophy, take plenty of pictures.
