Bring These Things in Your Hunting Day Pack

Hunting Day Pack When you head out on a hunt, it’s important to bring a fully-stocked hunting day pack along with you. It should contain anything that you could potentially while in the woods. The last thing you want is to forget something at home and have to hunt without it. Check out a few things you should always have in your hunting day pack.

Food and water

If you’re going to survive out in the wilderness for a day, you’re going to need to keep food and water nearby. They’ll keep you hydrated and full of energy. They’ll also sustain you if, for whatever reason, you end up hunting for longer than you planned. You should keep your water in a bladder to cut down on the amount of space it takes up and pack foods like trail mix, beef jerky, and protein bars.

Rain gear

If it starts to rain when you’re hunting and you don’t have rain gear on you, you’re obviously going to get soaked. This could be problematic if it’s cold and you’re not anywhere near civilization. You could be forced to deal with hypothermia. Your hunting trip could also get cut short if you end up getting wet due to a lack of rain gear.

Knife

The goal of your hunt is to bag big game, and if you’re lucky enough to do it, a field dressing knife will come in handy. A knife could also help you as you hunt if you encounter heavy brush or simply need to cut something as you travel by foot. Invest in a durable knife that will last you for years and you’ll never have to worry about not having one in your day pack.

First-aid kit

Injuries are, unfortunately, a part of hunting. You’re going to sustain scrapes and bruises when you hunt. You should be armed with a first-aid kit at all times. It should include band-aids, hand sanitizer, antibacterial cream, and more. It’ll keep you and your fellow hunters safe in the event of an injury.

Of course, everyone has their own preferences. From a headlamp and rubber gloves to a survival blanket and a fire starter, you should bring along anything that you think would be useful.
