Don’t Forget to Mask Your Scent While Hunting

When you’re out hunting, you want to mask your scent. You don’t want animals to know you’re nearby. You don’t want them smelling your sweat or the smell of campfire smoke on your clothes, etc. By the way, every human being has a particular smell. You can use scent-killing soaps or cover scents, and they can help, but it’s really hard to mask your scent perfectly.

Clothing

Did you know some clothing manufacturers make jackets using charcoal to hide human scent? There are also products on the market that help neutralize odor on clothes and boots. You can even buy laundry detergent that can help remove odors from clothing. And there are odorless or scent-killing dryer sheets available, too.

Bag Up More Than Just Your Trophy

Here’s a great idea– after you wash your hunting clothes, put them in a sealable plastic bag. Then don’t open and use them until you’re in the woods and ready to hunt. This way, you avoid the smells of breakfast, gas stations, the car ride, etc. On the day of the hunt, wash with odor-free soaps and shampoos. Use scent-free antiperspirant/deodorant. Brush your teeth with baking soda instead of minty toothpaste. Do what you can to stay scent-free.

Natural Cover Sprays

There are natural cover sprays with scents like pine and acorns, and you can spray them on yourself. There are lots of natural and artificial masking scents and cover sprays available in stores and online today.
