The Corsican Ram: What You Need to Know

At Tioga Boar Hunting, we strive to provide a number of unique hunting experiences to our clients. Not only do we offer hunting packages for standard game like boar and deer, but we also give you the opportunity to hunt exotic Corsican rams. If you aren’t familiar with this animal, read on to learn a bit more about these interesting animals before scheduling your next hunting trip.

If you’ve never had the chance to hunt an exotic animal, don’t overlook the Corsican Ram. This is the most hunted exotic animal throughout the country – and for good reason. Hunting these rams can be an exhilarating experience, especially because they offer a challenging hunt. Not only do they have the ability to quickly herd, making finding a clear shot difficult, but they also take time and patience to track down. The end result is one of the most rewarding hunting experiences you will have.

We mentioned that this is an exotic species, which is the most accurate description of these unique animals. They are most accurately described as a cross between the Barbados blackbelly sheep and the Mouflon sheep. They were introduced in Texas nearly half a century years ago, and today they are hunted in many areas of the United States. The males of the species have horns that can grow up to 35 inches in length, and they can weigh up to 160 pounds. Female members of the species have slightly smaller horns and are generally about 90 pounds. The Corsican rams you will hunt with Tioga Boar Hunting will typically have fully curled horns, making them a true prize for shoulder mounting.

Our guided Corsican ram hunts typically last one or two days, and they include lodging, meals and a guide. You will have a variety of options to hunt these rams, including shotguns, rifles and bows, and as with all hunts, butchering and caping services are available.
